PCI compliance without fork-lift upgrades
Trapeze Networks wireless solutions enable retailers to cost-effectively comply with wireless security provisions in the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), and avoid the major costs of replacing legacy equipment such as portable data terminals that do not meet the latest PCI security standard.
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard is issued by the PCI Standards Security Council. Founded by the five leading payment card brands—American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa International—the Council is an independent body formed to develop and disseminate standards for payment account security. The PCI DSS requirements apply to any merchant or company involved with storing, processing, or transmitting customer payment data such as credit card information.
Utilizing a unique managed service from Trapeze and Renaissance, retailers will no longer have to choose between expensive infrastructure upgrades or forfeiting their ability to perform payment card transactions. The managed service uniquely solves this problem by implementing an active security beacon in the retail facility and remotely monitoring it to detect and neutralize any potential threats to data or network security. The solution leverages the most advanced wireless security capabilities from Air Defense, the pioneer and recognized leader in wireless intrusion protection. Provided in the form of a lease-to-own contract, the service delivers the lowest cost of security compliance for the retail owner. Right-sized equipment for small stores
Unlike other vendors, Trapeze Networks offers two highly cost-effective WLAN controllers designed specifically for remote sites and branch offices. This allows Retailers to dramatically cut the cost of deployment. They can ship the minimum Wireless LAN equipment – say an MXR-2 and a couple of access points to a remote site, where in-store personnel need only power it up, and plug it into the local network. Thereafter the equipment can be configured and managed completely remotely from the Data Center or Network Operations Center using Trapeze Networks’ award winning management solution RingMaster. In addition, thanks to Smart Mobile local switching, complete resiliency can be enabled over the WAN, in which the access points can be managed by a centralized WLAN controller in the data center, in the event of a local controller failure.
Voice-optimized WLAN architecture
Increasingly store personnel are required to use wireless hand-held devices and Wi-Fi smart phones to check inventory and stay in communication with other personnel. With a Trapeze Wireless LAN deployment, delivering reliable voice services over Wi-Fi is simple. As a result of Smart Mobile local switching, Trapeze WLANs are uniquely optimized for wireless voice mobility and seamless roaming - delivering toll-quality voice and no dropped calls. While RingMaster automates RF planning, enables remote service configuration and allows network-wide monitoring and reporting - eliminating truck-rolls and delivering significant operational benefits and efficiencies.
Customers such as Kaiser’s Tengelmann, one of Europe’s largest food retailers, rely on Trapeze wireless networks to support their extended retail networks. Kaiser’s Tengelmann is rolling out Trapeze Smart Mobile technology to more than 700 retail stores, providing highly reliable, secure wireless local area network access for cash systems, reverse vending systems for recycling, kiosks, and advertising displays. The Trapeze network supports handheld terminals used by store managers and warehouse staff, enabling secure connectivity and seamless roaming in each store.
