Fast, Reliable and Accurate Real-Time Location Services Platform for Wireless LANs
The Trapeze Networks Location Appliance enables enterprises to find and track valuable assets and people in real time over their existing Wi-Fi networks quickly and accurately. The LA-200E provides extremely precise location tracking for thousands of devices over a wireless LAN (WLAN) and enables a host of mobile enterprise applications such as asset tracking and management, location-based security, and content delivery.
Increasingly, organizations such as healthcare, manufacturing and education that have highly mobile personnel and assets are deploying sophisticated wireless LANs to support the latest mobile applications and next-generation wireless services, including Fixed to Mobile Convergence (FMC) and Voice over Wi-Fi. As these organizations evolve their WLAN strategies, they are embracing the strategic business value that accurate location awareness brings to wireless networks.
Reliable, Accurate and Precise
By using patented server-side RSSI pattern matching techniques, the LA-200E delivers the industry’s highest performance for location tracking - with rapid response times and breakthrough levels of accuracy and precision for locating 802.11 devices on any band, including 802.11n.
Superior Tracking Performance
Accuracy at 10 Meters - 99%
Accuracy at 5 Meters - 97%
Accuracy at 3 Meters - 95%
Average Seek Time - 30 Sec
Fastest Seek Time - 10 Sec
Devices Tracked Simultaneously - 4,000
Trapeze’s unique and patented approach to Wi-Fi location tracking allows the LA-200E to provide the most accurate and precise real-time location tracking in the industry. With server-side RSSI pattern matching, no additional client software is necessary for location tracking, so it is possible to track any Wi-Fi devices.
Furthermore, the server-side approach is more reliable than client-side alternatives since it is not affected by changes to transmit power settings on APs.
The LA-200E’s approach to location tracking enables accurate definition of physical boundaries (i.e. inside vs. outside) and 3D resolution so problems such as “floor hopping” do not occur when locating and tracking devices or people in multi-floor facilities or multi-tenant buildings.
Visual Dashboard
Device locations are displayed through the LA-200E dashboard. Visualization can include a floorplan identifying the real-time location of all Wi-Fi devices (including 802.11n clients), asset tags and access points. The LA-200E’s dashboard also shows device to access point associations to assist IT helpdesk personnel with troubleshooting issues that may arise.
Locations are presented as named locations such as “Conference Room”, “Patient Room 314,” and “Loading Dock South,” making it easy to provide accurate room level precision.
Application Programming Interfaces
The Location Appliance provides device and location information as well as asset tag events via SOAP and XML APIs. This makes it easy to integrate location-awareness with existing commercial or internal systems e.g., patient billing, facilities management and create custom location-based applications.
The API provides developers with two different types of interfaces to the LA-200E: “Locale” or named location tracking is the primary mode of operation for the location tracking engine and is used primarily for application logic, based on device movement; the X,Y tracking interface exposes X,Y coordinates for a device, and is often used for visualization purposes.
Customers and application developers use the APIs to add location context to their existing applications. For example, upgrading an existing Wi-Fi PDA-based patient information application to update automatically based on which patient room the care provider was located.
Foundation for Advanced RTLS
The Trapeze LA-200E platform provides a foundation for advanced Real Time Location Services over WLANs. With the addition of RF Firewall™, enterprises can implement perimeter security to lock-down unauthorized access attempts from outside. Using ActiveAsset™ for asset management they can streamline workflow, improve asset utilization, and reduce asset losses. And with SmartPass™ enterprises can augment identity-based security policies with location-awareness in order to dynamically adjust user and guest access privileges based on their current location.
