TRAPEZE NETWORKS OFFERS FIRST CERTIFIED INTEROPERABLE VOICE OVER WI-FI APPLICATIONS TO ENTERPRISE CUSTOMERS
PLEASANTON, Calif. — June 22, 2005 — Trapeze Networks™, maker of the award-winning wireless LAN (WLAN) Mobility System™, today became the first company to have its products certified under the new SpectraLink (Nasdaq: SLNK) Voice Interoperability for Enterprise Wireless (VIEW) Certification Program.
The SpectraLink VIEW Certification Program is designed to ensure interoperability between SpectraLink NetLink Wireless Telephones and the WLAN infrastructure. SpectraLink VIEW-Certified products must meet enterprise-grade performance criteria for voice quality, security, capacity and roaming.
SpectraLink VIEW Certification uses industry standards to support unique Wi-Fi telephony requirements in the enterprise. SpectraLink pioneered the use of Wi-Fi-compatible quality of service (QoS) through SpectraLink Voice Priority (SVP), which ensures consistent, high-quality voice on converged WLANs. SpectraLink VIEW builds on the success of SVP by adding security and performance requirements plus standards-based QoS.
To achieve SpectraLink VIEW Certification, Trapeze Mobility Point™ (MP) access points met applicable IEEE 802.11 standards, exhibited optimal voice-over-wireless audio quality, applied enhanced security features, and maintained superb overall performance.
SpectraLink required all Trapeze MPs to enable QoS by implementing SVP. In order to successfully interoperate with SpectraLink NetLink Wireless Telephones, Trapeze MPs provided enhanced security including encryption using WPA/TKIP or WPA 2.0/AES with Pre-Shared Keys (PSK). Trapeze MPs also demonstrated low jitter and passed latency tests under a wide variety of load conditions with voice and data traffic.
"We are offering our Wi-Fi telephony expertise to help companies like Trapeze deliver the best wireless infrastructure to support mobile enterprise applications," said Geri Mitchell-Brown, SpectraLink Wi-Fi strategist. "VIEW Certification gives end-users the confidence that their Trapeze WLAN will properly support SpectraLink voice applications."
"SpectraLink VIEW certification was a priority for Trapeze, our partners and our customers," said Dan Simone, Trapeze's chief technology officer. "VIEW certification for Trapeze means that all of our OEM partners who license our products also gain certification."
"More of our customers are interested in deploying voice-over-wireless applications," Simone added. "Working with SpectraLink reminds our customers that they are working with a WLAN team that is leading the way to make enterprise voice applications possible."
