TRAPEZE NETWORKS™ WLAN MOBILITY SYSTEM GIVES MACROVISION EMPLOYEES THE FREEDOM AND MOBILITY TO WORK ANYWHERE
PLEASANTON, Calif. — May 16, 2005 — Trapeze Networks™, the award-winning provider of the enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) Mobility System™, today announced that Macrovision® Corp. (Nasdaq: MVSN), a leading provider of digital content and software value management solutions, has deployed Trapeze to give employees the freedom and mobility to work anywhere in its North America and United Kingdom facilities.
In order to encourage collaborative work, the Trapeze WLAN at Macrovision extends throughout its Santa Clara, California headquarters, and its Schaumburg, Illinois facilities, serving over 400 employees. Macrovision has also installed a wireless solution in their United Kingdom facilities.
"Protecting digital content and software is our business, so we really scrutinized Trapeze. It was clear that Trapeze had put a lot of effort behind security, especially 802.1X. It is tightly integrated with Active Directory and easy to use," said Brian Baker, information technology manager at Macrovision. "We also have been very pleased with the technical support provided by Trapeze and its reseller InterVision throughout the set up process."
A key Trapeze feature that Macrovision uses is WebAAA™. Unlike other WLANs that only provide web authentication, Trapeze supports the entire realm of AAA services — authentication, authorization and accounting — for clients who authenticate using a web browser.
The WebAAA feature gives Macrovision the best of both worlds: The simplest possible interface for wireless users — a web browser; and complete management of WLAN access using the AAA tools they're already familiar with. It delivers secure (https) authentication based on username and password, supports a myriad of authorization attributes to precisely control network access (VLAN ID, access control lists, quality of service, time of day, start/stop times and more) and RADIUS-based accounting (personal statistics, individual roaming history and more).
