TRAPEZE NETWORKS PROVIDES WLAN BACKBONE FOR ESCC/INTERNET2 JOINT TECHS WORKSHOP

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Feb. 14, 2005 — Trapeze Networks™, maker of award-winning wireless local area networking (WLAN) systems, today announced that it is the official wireless provider for the Joint Techs Workshop, sponsored by Internet2 and the ESnet Coordinating Committee (ESCC) being held from Feb. 13th through the 16th in Salt Lake City, Utah at the University of Utah.

The Joint Techs workshop brings together members of higher education, industry, and research communities to discuss the latest in emerging networking technologies, and their applications.

The workshop is a national conference made up of networking engineers that offers a combination of tutorials, plenary presentations, in-depth sessions, Birds-Of-a-Feather (BOF) meetings and demonstrations of state-of-the-art high performance networking technologies.

ESCC is an advisory body to the Steering Committee for the Energy Sciences network (ESnet), a high-speed network serving thousands of Department of Energy scientists and collaborators worldwide.

The Internet2 organization is led by more than 200 US universities, working with industry and government to develop and deploys advanced network applications and technologies for research and higher education, accelerating the creation of tomorrow's Internet.

In support of the conference, Trapeze has provided 51 Mobility Points™ (access points), 11 MXR-2™ branch office WLAN switches along with one MX-20™ WLAN switch to provide wireless access to all attendees at the workshop.

"We chose Trapeze Networks as our WLAN provider for the Joint Techs Workshop because their product is the most flexible product available today that works extremely well with 802.1X and multiple VLANs," said Chris Hessing, head of networking at the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah. "Trapeze's flexible architecture allows for easy configuration around our existing backbone infrastructure making our job of setting up and tearing down the WLAN much less time consuming and more straightforward."

Matthew Gast, author of 802.11 WLAN: The Definitive Guide and director of consulting engineering at Trapeze Networks, will be presenting an all-day hands-on 802.1X/wireless security workshop on Saturday, Feb. 12th at the University of Utah, Marriot Library, Gould Auditorium in conjunction with Chris Hessing, head of networking at the J. Willard Marriott Library and a Trapeze customer, and Terry Simons, customer support engineer at Trapeze Networks. Mathew will also be presenting the Joint Techs' plenary session on Wireless Technology Tuesday, Feb. 15th at 11:25am and Feb. 15th at 11:55am in the Saltair room.
