PLX TECHNOLOGY GOES WIRELESS IN THE BRANCH OFFICE AND AT HEADQUARTERS WITH TRAPEZE NETWORKS

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Feb. 7, 2005 — Trapeze Networks™ today announced that PLX Technology (NASDAQ: PLXT), the leading supplier of standard input/output (I/O) interconnect silicon, has chosen the Trapeze wireless LAN Mobility System™ for enhancing mobility for employees involved with testing and verification of its silicon.

PLX Technology evaluated Cisco, Airespace and Aruba wireless LAN products before deciding on Trapeze. "We chose Trapeze over the competition because of the level of support provided from the outset," said J.T. McDuffie, Director of Information Technology at PLX Technology. "Trapeze came in and made us feel like we were in this together for the long hall and they would support us along the way. We just didn't feel that the others could provide the same level of support."

The Trapeze RingMaster™ planning, deployment and management tool suite was also a key differentiator for McDuffie.

"I use RingMaster to manage the WLAN, monitor the network for rogues and adjust the system as my requirements change and grow," said McDuffie. "RingMaster's management is really quite amazing. The advanced auto RF feature in RingMaster offers incredible precision and ease of use with its three-dimensional view of the WLAN."

PLX deployed the Trapeze MXR-2™ WLAN switch with 2 dual-radio Mobility Points™ at its research and development facility in Salt Lake City. The MXR-2 is a full-featured branch office wireless LAN switch that features automatic no-touch deployment and all of the other enterprise-class features that Trapeze has built into its entire product line. Trapeze's flagship MX-20™ WLAN switch and over a dozen dual-radio Mobility Points™ are in operation at PLX headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif.

PLX provides wireless access to all of its 137 full-time employees at headquarters as well as guest access for visitors. Employees enjoy the convenience of mobility with the new Trapeze wireless LAN and now bring their laptops to meetings without having to be tied down to a desk.

The Salt Lake City facility has eight employees and year-round visitors from headquarters. The MXR-2 concurrently supports native subnet connectivity for roaming corporate users, remote wireless users on the headquarters VLAN, secure access for local employees, and isolated guest access to the Internet. Each user's authorizations are centrally managed by the PLX IT staff back at headquarters allowing for seamless integration to the Salt Lake City facility.

The Trapeze WLAN allows traveling PLX executives and other employees who visit the Salt Lake City facility to connect instantly, in the same way they do at headquarters, and get exactly the same rights, permissions, and services. The Mobility System automatically places them on the same VLAN they would be on at headquarters; ensuring security profiles that exist on the backbone routers are preserved.

Wireless LAN access is now paramount to PLX. The company integrates wireless as part of its silicon testing methodology and verifies all products through the Trapeze system. "Secure wireless access is absolutely critical in testing our silicon and that's what Trapeze offers us," notes McDuffie.
