TRAPEZE NETWORKS PROVIDES SECURE WIRELESS INFRASTRUCTURE
AT THE ANNUAL HIMSS HEALTHCARE CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION
PLEASANTON, Calif. — Feb. 23, 2004 — Trapeze Networks™ today announced that it has provided the wireless local-area network (WLAN) infrastructure at this year's Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference and exhibition, Feb. 22-26 in Orlando, Florida.
One of the world's largest healthcare IT conferences, HIMSS is attended every year by more than 20,000 healthcare professionals and 700 exhibitors worldwide. The conference offers over 200 education sessions, interactive workshops and roundtable discussions.
The Trapeze WLAN at HIMSS is the centerpiece of a joint development project between a consortium called Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), which is dedicated to the integration of healthcare information resources, and Health Level 7 (HL7), the ANSI-accredited healthcare standards organization. This landmark collaborative project brings together medical professionals and the healthcare information and imaging systems industry to raise awareness of systems and technology interoperability to optimize patient care.
"We chose Trapeze for the HIMSS WLAN because it's easy to deploy, has a robust feature set and offers very strong security," said Rick Smith, CTO at iNOC, the firm in charge of designing, implementing and supporting the HIMSS WLAN. "We installed Trapeze at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) show last fall and it was such a hit that HIMSS wanted the same great wireless services."
The iNOC team installed the Trapeze WLAN Mobility System™, which includes Mobility Point™ access points, Mobility Exchange™ switches, Mobility System Software™ and the RingMaster™ planning, deployment and management tool suite. HIMSS attendees are able to securely access Internet resources, email, online conference information and other valuable wireless services at the show.
