iNOC PARTNERS WITH TRAPEZE NETWORKS TO PROVIDE WLAN CONNECTIVITY TO ATTENDEES AND EXHIBITORS AT THIS YEAR?S RSNA TRADE SHOW IN CHICAGO
PLEASANTON, Calif. — Dec. 1, 2003 — Trapeze Networks™ today announced that in partnership with iNOC it is supporting the network at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)'s Annual Meeting at McCormick Place in Chicago with its wireless local area network (WLAN) Mobility System™ where attendees and exhibitors will receive wireless access. The meeting and tradeshow runs from Nov. 30-Dec. 5 and is the largest medical meeting in the world with about 700 vendors, numerous scientific exhibits and over 60,000 attendees. Show officials estimate that about 40 percent of the attendees come from countries outside the U.S.
The event is RSNA's 89th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting that brings together radiologists and allied health scientists to one place to get access to the most current research results, cutting-edge technology and the chance to network with their peers.
"We needed a robust and proven wireless LAN infrastructure to accommodate the expected high volume of wireless users at the show," said Rick Smith, Chief Technology Officer at iNOC, the company that designed, built and is currently managing the RSNA network from its Network Operations Center. "We recommended the Trapeze Mobility System because it is tops in security, scalability and offers simple and efficient planning and management capabilities." The network, dubbed RSNAnet, spans multiple exhibit halls across 2 million square-feet, has about 80 network closets and is built with Gigabit Ethernet equipment from Extreme and Cisco. iNOC has been designing, building and managing RSNAnet every year for the last four years.
The show network includes seven hot spot locations where attendees and exhibitors can connect to the Trapeze Mobility System to check email, view PACS radiological images, access exhibit information or just surf the web using their laptops, tablet PCs and PDAs.
