TRAPEZE NETWORKS SUPPLIES Wi-Fi® INFRASTRUCTURE FOR 2008 DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE AT THE CITADEL
Smart Mobile™ Wireless Network Provided Secure, Reliable, Wireless Internet Connectivity in Support of the CNN/ YouTube Co-Sponsored Debate
PLEASANTON, Calif., July 31, 2007 – Trapeze Networks®, the award-winning provider of Smart Mobile wireless solutions, today announced that it successfully deployed its Smart Mobile wireless local area network (LAN) at the first Democratic National Committee-sanctioned presidential forum, held at The Citadel this past Monday, July 23. The high performance Wi-Fi network provided the candidates and their staff, media, and bloggers with continuous and seamless Internet connectivity that allowed them to send and receive email, file stories, upload videos and update blogs wirelessly in real-time.
A month prior to the presidential debate, Trapeze had won the bid to deploy a wireless network at The Citadel’s barracks. Several buildings were outfitted with Wi-Fi access including McAlister Field House where the official debate took place, Jenkins Hall where the candidates and their staff prepared for the debate and Mark Clark Hall where the press rooms were located.
The wireless network from Trapeze featured two Mobility Exchange controllers and 28 access points, which supported 200 simultaneous users actively filing stories and blogging.
“We evaluated several solutions from other vendors and then selected Trapeze Networks. We needed a solution that would provide reliable and affordable wireless access across several barracks and outdoor areas to ensure the students have reliable wireless connectivity when and where they need it,” said George Russ, network operations and security manager for The Citadel. “The installation went smoothly and the Wi-Fi network has performed very well. We’re looking forward to working with Trapeze again soon.”
