TRAPEZE NETWORKS SELECTED FOR CAMPUS WIDE DEPLOYMENT SUPPORTING 18,000 STUDENTS AT DUTCH UNIVERSITY

Trapeze selected for its proven management, high availability, and VoWLAN capabilities

PLEASANTON, Calif., January 29, 2007 – Trapeze Networks™ the award-winning provider of the wireless LAN (WLAN) Mobility System™, today announced it has been selected by Avans College in the Netherlands to provide WLAN access for its 18 academies and three support services across three towns. Avans College chose Trapeze over its direct competitors for its stable, secure and reliable wireless LAN (WLAN) solution and its ability to centrally manage the infrastructure at campuses spanning three jurisdictions.

The university, based in the southern part of the Netherlands in the cities of Breda, s’-Hertogenbosch and Tilburg, employs 1,800 and offers 40 Higher Vocational Education courses to more than 18,000 students. The organization’s distributed higher education environment – which mirrors that of a large company – demanded a solution that could integrate seamlessly into Avan’s existing wired network and extend network access to allow “team-based” education efforts for its students. The university also required turnkey installation at various sites and the guaranteed support of Eduroam authentication. Trapeze outfitted Avans College with a 24-hours-a-day WLAN network fully accessible with support for laptops, PDAs and the university’s Voice over wireless LAN (VoWLAN) plans for the future. As a result, 2,000 concurrent users now rely on Trapeze’s Wireless LAN access to get their work done.

Trapeze was also selected for its powerful management capabilities found in the RingMaster management software. Avans College’s central management station is located in Breda and relies on RingMaster to provide centralized management of its WLAN. Avans College purchased
seven MX-200 mobility exchange switches to deliver reliable Wi-Fi service for large numbers of users and support for 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g, as well as 350 MP-372 54 Mbps wireless mobility points (MPs) to provide wireless LAN access at multiple locations.
